Good Things Happen To People Who Wait

While riding the crowded elevator down to the hospital today two woman were chatting amongst themselves.  I have no idea what they were talking about as I was in my own little day dream.  For whatever reason the only part of their conversation I did hear was when the one woman said to the other, "Good things happen to people who wait."  Suddenly I felt the word vomit as I exclaimed an Amen Sister!!  A flood of giggles filled the elevator and I just grinned like the crazy fool I am.  A sweet little old man physician patted me on the shoulder as he assured me that it happens to us all some times and we finally came to the second floor where I promptly jumped off and hurried down the long hall.  It is so true though...  Good things come to those who wait... At least I sure as hell hope so!!

My life has been a constant wait patiently, work your ass off and good things will happen; and they have.  Lot's of good things have happened.  That does not mean that I will never want for things.  Dude, I want, I want, I want, I want...  It is like the episode where Bette gives up on her silence retreat.  The L Word Season 3, Episode. 9: "Lead, Follow, Or Get Out of the Way".  (Sorry I am kind of a freak about my L Word!)  She is so sick of holding everything she wants (to say, to do, to be) inside of her that she finally just let's it all out.  She breaks and it all comes out as simple as this, "I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want..."  It is so simple.  She knows that her wants are not all plausible, she knows that she can not have everything that she wants the moment she starts to want them.  Life just doesn't work that way.

Three little boys with big hazel eyes and two little girls both with strawberry curls.

But, like I said before, life is full of wants; it is also full of good things, great things that we already have.  No need to fuss over the wants.  I will keep wanting those things and dreaming big but while I am waiting, oh so patiently, for their time to come I will enjoy all of the awesome things we already have...

Like impromptu play dates with Baby Grace who is not so much a baby anymore as a Big Girl!!

Yep, I'll take what we've got!  The next part to our story is worth the wait...

Oh and one more thing... Can I just say that Ben and I are gonna rock this parent thing, someday...
